Rolling Baby Means Harder To Sleep!!
« on: May 15, 2006, 01:32:45 am »
Well my almost 4month old as figured out how to roll from back to stomach and from stomach to back on the floor, however in her crib she can only roll from back to front.  I didn't do much tummy time with her at all because she absolutely hates being on her stomach.  This leads to my new problem.  For the past week she loves to sleep on her side, but now that she rolls to her stomach she will do that and start crying so hard.  I come in and put her on her back which makes her cry more because, I think, she wants to be on her side.  So I put her on her side and she rolls on to her stomach.... you see the circle of events here.  So anyhow, this just started today, I don't know how to solve this problem.  It is making napping and going to bed at night a nightmare...   ???

Spectra,

I have no advice to offer, but just have to say I FEEL YOUR PAIN  ::)

DS started the rolling nightmare about 4 days ago. Back to tummy, but can't flip back yet. Every nap is a hassle, not to mention the middle-of-the-night sessions that result in him waking up so much that he decides he's hungry and can't wait till morning  :o

I'm having to put him in the crib 20-30 minutes before I actually want him to fall asleep given that he rolls so much before actually dropping off. Poor guy frets so much. And it's interfering with his sleep cycle transition as well, given that as he comes back up to awakening, he realizes he's on his tummy, and gets fussy.

All the advice I've received so far is that it's a waiting game, and that just as rolling back to front suddenly clicked, so will front to back. In the meantime, DH can get out of bed and partake in the rolling fun!

Good luck.... Have patience....

Katy

Hi, our 1st child did that rolling from back to front and then couldn't roll back. So we bought a cushion thing it looks like 2 bolster cushions with a piece of cloth in the middle keeping them together. So they can roll from back to side but know further and they don't get stuck. our 2nd child (8mths) has had it in his cot since birth.
