Hello Everyone,

My Little Jude is 11 months old and has always gone to bed at 7pm ish with no problems, recently though he has been standing up wide awake and taking up to an hour of going in going out pick up put down..... its driving me insane!

My first thoughts are that maybe he isnt tired, as he goes down for his morning and afternoon sleeps no bother at all.

The reason he may not be tired is because his afternoon sleep is sometimes as late as 3.30pm, this is because he is sleeping 2 hours from 9am until 11am in the morning, therfore isnt tired until 3 ish.  His afternoon nap can be anthing from 30mins to an hour and a half.

Do i need to tweak his routine a bit do you think? :-\

Maybe shorten his morning sleep so he is tired earlier in the afternoon rather than later?

I would be so grateful of any advice, many thanks kelly  :-*

we had this problem not that long ago , Ryan is older than your LO , he only has 1 nap , we found that if we let him sleep no longer than 2pm , which ia a 2hr nap then he went to sleep easier at night without going any later. at 12 months Ryan was down to 1 nap , so it's possible that your LO is sleeping too long in the day.
i am probably not the best person to offer advice as we have had a lot of sleep issues along the way . i hope someone can offer more advice .

Hi,

At 11 months I had to really monitor DD's daytime sleep or we would struggle at bedtime.

She had 2 naps:

9:30or10 until 11AM ( I always woke her at 11)
2ish until 330PM at the latest.

I had the same problem as you and tried moving her to a later bedtime but then found it easier to switch up her naps.  I think at this age it is really difficult for them to try and go to sleep if they aren;t totally tired, KWIM?

She is almost 13 months now and we have moved to ONE nap midday as of last week, up until then we were doing the nap schedule above.

HTH,

Richelle
