Switching to 2 bottles a day
« on: May 17, 2006, 19:20:53 pm »
Hi All,

Was hoping I could get a bit of advice.

My 10 month old is starting to fuss around his 2:30pm bottle so was thinking of dropping it and having him on 2 bottles a day.

My question is - do I just drop it immediately and just give him snacks to do I drop it over a period of time?

Also what can I offer him as snacks at this time of the day?

He currently has toast, baby crisps, rice cakes, cereal bars, baby biscuits, yoghurt, strawberries, bannana etc, so was wondering if there was anything new I could introduce to him?

Thanks for your help.

When we went to two bottles a day, we just dropped the third bottle cold turkey. I was worried she'd have a problem, but nope. She didn't even notice!  :) We replaced the bottle with a snack and sippy of water or formula.

At this age for snacks, in addition to what you wrote, we had: cheerios, kix, arrowroot cookies, cheese, graham crackers, cut up fruit chunks. Hmmm, that's all I can think of. I am sure there was more. I will think on it!

Hi Paula,

So it looks like you struggling again with those bottles  ::)
We are currently at 3x6oz bottles and has been fine with her lunch bottle at the moment only because she has decided to fuss with her lunch at the moment  ::)
I replied to you in the other post you had but i think a snack of some dairy would be good to replace the bottle and it is filling as well.

Good luck  :)

My 10 mos old barely drinks her 11 am bottle. She takes a few sips and chucks it. Sometimes when we're out and about i kind of forget about it until lunchtime but she never complains about missing it.  I was thinking of dropping that one and going down to 2 also.

She gets 8 oz at 7am and 6 oz at 3:30pm.  Maybe I'll up the 3 ish bottle to 8 oz.  Or maybe offer 2 oz in a sippy cup with lunch. Wlhat do you guys think?

We just did the move to 2 bottles at 10months. She has 7ozs before her AM nap and 8ozs before bed. She also has 2ozs in a cup with her breakfast and lunch.
Doesn't your DD have a bottle at bedtime?

Nope, she starting refusing that one a month or two ago believe it or not. She would just swat it out of my hand and never drink any of it so I just quit giving it to her.  She has always been early to bed (6:30 pm ish) so I think it it too close to dinner for her.

I think I will try ditching that late morning one this week and see how it goes. Thanks!!
