Question about milk problems
« on: May 20, 2006, 22:01:30 pm »
Although I'm a bottle feeder one friend & work colleague is a breast feeder & the other 2 girls who are pregnant hope to breast feed.  So when we called in the other day (were both still on leave) the preg girls were asking about things.  DD2 was very sickly (I suspected reflux) from the start & I also had hours of screaming.  I changed to a 'comfort' (whey based) formula & although that plus BW routine was a huge improvement, problems existed & more recently we've got drops (lactase) to add to feeds. She's now great & the problem was probably lactose related.
The preg girls were assumung that these probs were formual related & were asking if that was unlikely to happen in breast fed babies.  As the medicine contains instructions for breast & formula milk, I would assume that it's baby related rather than milk related. As I'm rather ignorant about BF 'problems' I wondered if any of you could answer the question.
Do you still get these sort of problems with breast milk?

Sure.  My second son was breastfed and has milk allergy where he's allergic to the protein, casein found in milk.  I did an elimination diet where I eliminated all milk products from my diet as that protein is passed through breastmilk.  This worked wonderfully.  :)
