Just want to let you all know that W2S really does work.  My ds usually takes about 4 45 min naps/day and has NEVER gone past the 45 minute cycle.  Today, at his first nap (10:00am), I tried it and it worked like a charm.  I walked in at the 28 min mark and could tell he was still in the light phase; breathing was a faster pace.  After a few minutes his breathing slowed down and it looked like he was in a deep sleep.  I gently stroked his cheek ( a few times) but that didn't work--he didn't budge.  Then I just popped the paci right out of his little mouth and I got a stir that way.  He just readjusted and went right back to sleep---FOR ANOTHER HOUR AND 45 MIN!!!!  I don't know what to do with myself with all of this extra time on my hands! LOL!  I'm amazed--I didn't think it would work the first time (or even work at all for that matter) and really does!  I guess I will now have to do this 2 more times as is suggested.   I'll update everyone next time.

Congratulations on the long nap! I just want to say that I too am amazed by the wake to sleep strategy. My LO  is 5.5 months and has always taken 4 45 minute naps a day. It was getting so frustrating because he would wake up crying and I knew he was still tired, but just couldn't cross into the next sleep cycle. I bought the BW problem-solving book, then learned about the wake to sleep method through this forum. What a godsend! We've been trying W2S for the past 2 days and I've gotten 2 long naps and one short nap each day by going in around the 25 minute mark and moving his legs to get him to stir. The method goes against logic but I am finding it really is working.
