6 Mth Old - wakes 5-6am in morning
« on: May 31, 2006, 23:10:09 pm »
Hi - our girl has been waking in the mornings between 5&6am now, and we really need some suggestions on how to extend that out to 7am.  This has been happening for 2 or so weeks now.  She's now much more active now (will probably crawl any day now), and sometimes she is upside down (she is still swaddled, but often now breaks out of this even though she is double wrapped!).

Have tried wake to sleep, but it didn't work this time (set the alarm for 4.30am, but she just woke up about an hr later or so).  Have also got her to bed a little earlier, so that she is asleep by around 7.15pm or 7.30pm (as per suggestion on another post) but this doesn't do it either.

Instead of feeding her, we now wait until 7am to get her on track.  But at that time of the morning, it is very difficult to get her back to sleep (we are so tired!!).

Have started her on solids around 2.5 weeks ago.

Schedule very roughly (breastfeed):
Up - 5-6am: try to get her back to sleep
Eat - 7am (Solids 1 hr later)
Activity - 2 hrs
Sleep - 9.15am (1.5 to 2 hrs)

Eat - 11am (Solids 1 hr later)
Activity - 3 + hrs
Eat - 2.15pmish (early feed to ensure she sleeps and doesn't wake hungry)
Sleep - 2.30pm ( 1.5 hrs)

Eat - 4 pm and 5pm (solids and cluster feed)
Activity - 2.5 hrs
Eat - 6.45pm (formula and top up with breastfeed)
Sleep - 7.15pm

Dreamfeed - 10.30pm

Thanks - if anyone has ideas, would love to hear.

Thanks

hmmm... the only thing that jumps out at me is that she sounds like she's hitting some milestones.  that would make the early waking developmental related, and you would just continue to ride it out as you have been doing. (though i might make that first nap no later than 9am)

maybe have a peek here and see if anything sounds familiar??
