help worried about lo
« on: June 05, 2006, 13:06:33 pm »
Help my dd is struggling to drink her milk she is 25 weeks old is feeding well on her solids having 3 meals a day but does not want to drink her bottles . She will drink water or juice.

What is the minimal intake she should be having?

This used to be her routine

7.00 breakfast i.e rice or weetabix sometimes will drink 4oz of milk

mid morning a bottle 6oz

12/1.00 dinner a fruit puree or fromage frais

mid afternoon a bottle 6oz

4/5.00 tea time Veg puree etc and desert

7/8.00 6oz bottle

Now she skips her breakfast bottle and misses one out through out the day so she is only getting between 15-20 oz per day and thats at a struggle does any one have any advice, Im putting milk in with her meals but that only amounts to a couple of ounce Im worried shes not getting enough nutrients.

 Hi there!

Just wanted to offer a tad bit of advice.   You lo's formula should be offered before the solids until your dd is a year old. Formula (or breastmilk)  is suposed to be the primary source of nutrition until babies are a year old. Try offering the bottle and then solids an hour later.  You might hold off on offering juice b/c your lo may be filling up on that instead of intaking the milk (which is much more nutritious). HTH!!!

hiya

Exactly how much solids does your LO get? It could also be that she is getting to filled up on solids and not hungry for milk.
What times do you give milk? As Shelliz says "your lo's formula should be offered before the solids".....
