3 month old wakes every 3hours at night! HELP!
« on: June 09, 2006, 21:32:10 pm »
Hi !! I have recently been having problems with my son (3 months old) who has been waking almost every 2 1/2 hours to 3 at night time!!

I have been using EASY for almost a month now, and it seems to be working great.. When I started Nathan was having problems thinking that my chest was his bed, so we slept in a reclining chair for like the first 2 1/2 months of his life!  Anyways once I read the BW book I decided to start the routine and do the wake to sleep, and it worked!!  So, I tried doing it in his crib but than I finally got tired of getting up every night to put his soother back in his mouth and lean over the crib for 20 minutes to make sure he was still sleeping so I brought him into my bed. But lately I have been having problems with him waking up every 3 hours at night time! I dont know whether or not its because the pacifier is falling out or what? He is 12 weeks old... so is there a growth spurt around this time?? Every time he wakes up I feed him and then he goes right back to sleep.. so I dunno...

How old is your child?   12 weeks

What’s his/her daily routine? wake at 9:00, sleep by 10:15, wake at 11:20, sleep by 12:20, wake at 1:20, sleep at 2:20, wake at 3:20 basically thats how it goes all day until 9:00PM when I give him his bath and then he goes to sleep until 1:00... I am only feeding 4 oz formula per feed.
What’s nap routine? above (wake for hour 10 minutes, sleep for hour)
How long are naps? average an hour sometimes hour and half
What's bedtime routine? Time?  bath, massage, feed, sleep by 9:00pm
Do you bottle or breastfed?? bottle
How much? or how long?  4 oz
If breastfed.. one side or both?? (at each feed)
How many wakes per night? averaging 3  (1:00, 3:30, and 6:00)
What’s your LO like when waking at night? How long is he/she up?   fussy, wont go back to sleep if I just put the pacifier back in his mouth, have to get up and feed him than goes back to sleep.
When you go to him/her is she fussing or crying? Or is it a mantra cry? Its a scream!! if I dont tend to him he will break out into big time cry!
What have you tried to settle?? putting pacifier back in mouth, pat/shh, everything..
What do you do for A time and how long is it? usually watching mobile, hanging out with me, smiling, laughing
Are there developmental issues such as teething or milestones? I dont think so.
Have you introduced cereal? Why, how much, and how many times a day? (for LO’s under 6 months)  no
Do they have a prop? If so what is it?  pacifier
Do they have a lovie? no

All your help will be greatly appreciated!! Thankyou, Angela

Hi Angela!

Yes, there is a growth spurt at 12 weeks - usually a big one. When he wakes those three times, does he eat each time?
