Anyone experience this????
« on: June 15, 2006, 20:33:28 pm »
Hi, my dd is just over 6 months and very distractable during feeding times EBF, so much so that I have to feed her in our dark room lying down in bed - ok so I am not complaining - I get to lie down too.  ;D If I hold her like I used to she tends to pull and turn to look at everything - I am not an elastic band either - ouch.  :o Just wondering if any other mums with lo's this age experienced the same kinda thing and does it pass? I cant exactly go out somewhere and then just lie down and feed her.  ::) Although I am sure she wouldnt mind. I am mostly at home so this doesnt really apply, and I do try to get her feeds in before we go out.

Any suggestions or going through same thing?
TIA

Hello,

I think virtually every baby goes through this phase - annoying isn't it!  ;D

It only lasted for a couple of weeks. Although she still does it occaisonally now  ::)

I gave dd something to hold.

Yup!  Right there with you.  We are on more of a 4.5 hr EASY in the morning, that way she's a little more interested at that 2nd (and sometimes 3rd) feed.  Morning and night are no problems... it's those middle two  ::)  And, big sister is a big distraction... I know the "rubber band" feeling

Older sisters are a HUGE distraction, I have to be in the other room. The distraction phase seems to come and go with us!

DS turned into Mr. Look a Little, Drink a Little.  Then to my amazement, he started focusing more. He still looks up to give little smiles at times.

My son is 10 months old and still easily distracted when nursing.

Good thing that he's so efficient when breast feeding.  I don't think he'd be able to make it through one of those 45-min newborn nursing sessions!

My 4 month old ds does the same thing...sometimes it's soo frustrating, he wants to eat but he's constantly trying to look at everything, then he gets mad and cries...what helps sometimes is having someone like dh watch over my shoulder or dangle a toy in front of him...anyway, I'm hoping this will pass soon...good luck!
