Need help with a routine for a 4 months old
« on: July 04, 2006, 19:09:14 pm »
I need help in setting a routine for my DD so that she'll eat more during the day and less at night (she used to sleep an 8 hours stretch and now wakes up hungry after only 4 hours).

I also need a schedule that would make her napping easier. Currently the first nap usually goes without problems but the second and third are a struggle (tapping used to do the job, but it seems to stop working, she also turns on her belly from that and becumes very frustrated about it).

Her bedtime is 7PM, wakeup at 8AM and the first night usually evolves at around 9-ish.

Thanks,
Tuty

Can you please post your current routine?  :D

Not sure from your post if you are currently on a routine or not, so here is the link to starting EASY https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=62100.0

Here is also a link to sample routines for the 3 - 6 month age group https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=10385.0

Her routine is as follows:

Wakeup 8:00 (Often she doesn't cry in the morning so if we're sleeping in in the weekend she'd cry only at 8:45 or so and we can't tell what time she woke up..)
E 8:30 (about 7 minutes)
S 9/9:30 (1-1:30 hours)
E ~11:30
S 12:00/13:00 (lately she's been napping for almost 3 hours)
E 15:00/16:00 (depending on the time she fell asleep for the second nap)
S 17:00/17:30 (45 minutes)
Bedtime routine: 18:15 (Bath, feeding and song)
S 19:00

No DF. She used to wake up at 3/4AM. Now she wakes up at 11PM and 3/4AM for a full meal.

At night and for the first nap she usually falls asleep on her own with no crying. The second and third nap usually involve a lot of crying and tapping on her back usually until she falls asleep (sometimes we try to stop right before, but then we need to start all over again, lately it doesn't seem to work anyways). Today after 2.5 hours of not being able to help her fall asleep (including a feeding), we eventually gave her the pacifier and had to reinsert it every time she woke up. She doesn't seem to try to soothe herself when tapping on her back (previously she used to bring her fingers to her mouth but not anymore). Should we try the PU/PD? Should we move her bedtime earlier (she usually begins to fuss right before her bath, so perhaps 7PM is too late for her and she's overtired by the afternoon(?).

Thanks,
Tuty
