Night waking and SA ?
« on: July 21, 2006, 09:57:15 am »
Dd, at 8.5 months is still waking 2/3 times a night. She wakes up crying but stops the moment i hold her - i then have to cuddle her back to sleep. Could she be experiencing SA in the middle of the night???  :-\

It sounds a bit like the cuddle may be a prop. When she cries what does it sound like? like a full out cry or a wine or a fuss?

I'm sorry I'm drawing a balnk.. whats SA?  ???

SA - Separation anxiety.

It depends, sometimes it's a wail and sometimes it's more of a mantra cry.

I agree with Kimberly, I don't think it sounds like SA but that she's used to seeing you and getting a cuddle in the night. If she's doing a mantra cry, then definitely leave her be, as annoying as it may be. Don't go to her unless she's crying-crying, and if that happens then try and soothe her in the crib without picking her up. Or, you could go with PU/PD as well.
