OOPS
« on: July 31, 2006, 03:40:11 am »
:-[ OK so color me embaressed.. I've been baby sitting my friends 9 month old DS since Friday morning. Now he is a breastfed baby and she gave me more then enough frozen expressed bm for the weekend. My DD is on whole milk now, she hasn't had bm since 2 months. Well both LO's are self feeders so I gave them their bottles in an inclosed area where I knew they were safe, and I went to the washroom. Big OOPS!! I came back out and they had managed switched bottles and he had drank all her whole milk and she his bm.  :o

I know he's fine since she has the bm mixed with whole milk now for one feed a day. I told her what had happend when she called tonight. She got a good laugh out of it. But theres a nagging feeling in the back of my head. Should I be worried about DD?? I mean she had 9oz of bm that wasn't mine. I'm sure this is a silly question, but is there a need for concern here? should I be worried or am I just being silly?

Thanks in advance?

I think the chances of something bad happening are teeny tiny - I really don't think you should worry. The only negative things that could have resulted were if you were being super careful about some sort of food intolerance or if your friend was positive with the kind of virus you would have known about (and would have meant she wouldn't have been breastfeeding her own child). I think it's probably more likely your LO was exposed to the positive affects of your friends antibodies!!

I can imagine it's a bit of an odd feeling though. I really wouldn't worry.
