Should my 10 mo. old drop a bottle?
« on: August 01, 2006, 18:52:44 pm »
Hi ,
My ds will be 10 mo. next week.  He is starting to refuse his night time bottle or only take about 3 oz. of it.  I'm wondering if I should move his second bottle up to  midday so that he will continue to have the bedtime one.  He currently has solids three times a day, and four bottles.
His first bottle is from 5-6 am. ( I have a very early riser!)
breakfast about 6:30
bottle 10:00
lunch 11:00
bottle 2:00
dinner 4:15
bottle 5:45
bed 6:00

Also, I should mention that he is only in the 6th percentile for weight, so, needless to say, I want to be very careful about eliminating food.

If I do drop a bottle, what time should the 3 bottles be?

Separate question, my husband and I take ground flaxseed because it's an excellent source of EFA's.  Today I ground up a teaspoon and put it in his cereal- great fats and high calorie- do you think this is ok?

thanks!  Gail

I have a 10 month old too who is tiny and we are on 3 8 oz bottles.  Our times are as follows

5-6 a.m. (just like you, but she goes back to sleep until 7:30
Breakfast 8
lunch 12:00
8 oz 1:00
snack 3:30
dinner 5:00
Bottle 7:30

You could introduce a snack at 10 and then lunch at 11 and then bottle at 12 and follow up with a snack in the afternoon and then bottle before bed.  I don't know if this works with the nap schedule but it might help to get more food in.

I read in the super baby food book that flaxseed is great for babies this age and will help them get more nutrients.  as with all things, you just want to wait a couple days until you introduce something new to make sure there is no reaction.

good luck hth
