Won't Wear Bib
« on: August 10, 2006, 15:40:04 pm »
DD keeps pulling her bib off midway through her meal (still mainly purees). She gets pretty upset about it and doesn't want it on. But problem is she makes a mess of her clothes otherwise and I imagine this will only increase as she moves more onto finger foods and table foods. Any ideas? We've mistakenly been feeding her without a bib sometimes when this happens so I'm sure that's not helping matters.

Hiya

William is just the same. We either have to put him in a bib that pops over his head so he can't pull it off or feed him without a bib. Yes it gets messy without one but as long as you wash the clothes soon after they don't stain or get messed up for long. In warm weather I have known people feed LOs in just a nappy and then bath them afterwards lol..

Don't let it worry you too much xxx

I've never used a bib for any of mine.  But my friend uses one that has sleeves and goes on like a back-to-front shirt.  Does that make sense?

Maybe try letting her choose from 2 different bibs? I remember doing this even before Tyler was verbal. I'd hold them up and ask which one he wanted to wear and he'd point to one. If he didn't, I'd choose for him.

Its so good to hear other people have problems with bibs too.  I just try to distract my son with something else, he is the same with hats too.

Thanks everyone. As for hats, that's a whole 'nother problem! Distraction doesn't work - I tend to just get her to wear either for as long as possible and don't worry when it gets pulled off - with the sunhat I just then have to put the baby blanket sunscreen on her scalp...

I have just started using these and they are fantastic.
