Night feedings
« on: August 25, 2006, 22:10:38 pm »
I'm having a hard time with EASY.  I seem to be posting something every day.   Ds is 7 weeks old.  Lately it seems like he is trying to drop the 5 am feed instead of the 2 am.  I'm just wondering if that is a problem.  Should I be doing something differently or will he still sleep through the night soon?  :P

Hi!

{{{HUGS}}}

Is he going through a growth spurt maybe? Are you cluster feeding before bedtime?

Hi, Not sure about the growth spurt, and we are not doing cluster feeding.  We stopped cluster feeding because when we were doing it he wouldn't take a dream feed.  Also, Tracy says not to cluster after 8 weeks.  I know he should be working towards dropping the 2 am feed, but he's not even close.  Maybe I'm just impatient.  But I'm soooo tired.   :(  He wants to drop the 5 am feed though.  I'm confused. :-\

Hi
There at 7 weeks old it is normal for LO's to have at least 2 night feeds approx. 2 & 5am, I recall calum didn't skip the 2am feed until he was about 3 months old, then started sleeping through at 5months.

I don't see any problem what you have described in your post, at this age if he is trying to drop any of the nightfeeds  - well done  :D

I feel like I am posting at least 10 questions per day lately (thank God for this site!!!), but I am really trying to do EASY right.  One of my biggest challenges right now is with eating.  I would give anything to have a good eater this time!!!  Ds is 6 weeks old, and I think he still has his days and nights confused.  He is only eating about 2 ounces at a time during the day, and that is every 3 hours (I don't let him snack).  Then he is up every 3 hours at night finishing his 4 ounce bottles.  He is getting most of his calories at night instead of during the day.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong or how to fix this.  His approximate eating schedule is 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5pm, 7 pm (or 7:30), and then the dreamfeed between 10 and 11 pm.  Then he is up every 3 hours at night.  I have to wake him every 3 hours during the day.  Help!  And thank you everyone for your invaluable advice so far.   :D

You said in your other post he was waking every 3 hours at night, does this still happen?

Hi, He is waking up every 4 or 5 hours now.   ;D  But do you think it is OK that he is dropping the 5 am feed before the 2 am?  Does it matter?  He will be 8 weeks old on Wednesday.  He has a dreamfeed at 10:45 pm.  The he wakes up at approximately 3:15 or 3:30 am to eat.  He then sleeps until at least 7:00 am.  I'm not complaining because getting up only once at night is not so bad, but I'm just wondering if we are on the right track.  Thanks.
