Switching from breast to bottle
« on: August 31, 2006, 11:33:03 am »
I'm wanting to give up breastfeeding and put my ds onto a bottle but so far I have had no luck getting him to take one. Other people have tried, I've gone out for the day, tried different teats and bottles but no success. I'm thinking of trying Tracy's suggestion of not giving in and ride out the hunger strike but how long should I let it go before I give in - a few hours or maybe days. Also I'm starting to feed him solids - should I give up the solids until I get him onto a bottle?  Any suggestions would be great!

Hi Rachel.

He's 24 weeks now.

Yes, I did read the FAQs which are really helpful but I just wanted to know if anyone had had the same problem and what their experience was.

Hi batgirlly,
we were almost at the point of doing that too with lily when she was about 5 months as i was returning to work and planning to pump.

Luckily it didnt come to that, what worked for us was to do the dreamfeed with a haberman bottle for a week, after that she used to take a couple of oz no bother....she is 11 months now and still likes her haberman....and i am still pumping!!
