Bobbing on & off the breast.
« on: September 08, 2006, 05:47:03 am »
Hi,

My little 9 week old DS2 constantly bobbs on and off the breast.  Through most of the feed he does a couple of sucks and then comes off - he doesn't cry.  When he's relaxed or sleepy he doesn't do this.

Does anyone know why he's doing this?  Is my flow too strong?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rose

Hi Rose

My DS started doing this around the same time. I am not sure what caused it for him, and even though I tried changing to double sided feeding as I thought he might not be getting enough milk, this didn't work as he got too much foremilk.

My DS has 'grown out of it' and now doesn't bob on and off - sorry not to provide any insight but hang in there ...

Rose,
Is he content after bobbing off?  Or is he looking for more?

Proud to have breastfed for a combined total of 35 months

Has he been checked for a 'tongue-tie'?  My daughter (11 weeks) has just had hers divided and its made a huge difference - she used to bob on and off while feeding!
