Are snacks a necessity?
« on: September 16, 2006, 17:29:27 pm »
This is my LO feeding schedule.
6:30 a     6 oz bottle, cereal, cheese, fruit, cheerios, sometimes egg
10:30a    6 oz bottle, 1 jar food, fruit, cheerios, veggies finger food
2:30 pm   6 oz bottle, 1 jar food, bread, veggies finger food
6:00pm    6 oz bottle

Sometimes he might have a little of my dinner with his 6pm feed.  My question is that I have seen in so many feeding schedules that there is a snack between almost every meal.  If that's the case, how do you ever get anything done  ??? and is it necessary on this schedule?  Is my LO getting enough to eat?  Someone let me know what you think, please.

DS is 8 1/2 mo.  Also what do you give for snacks and how much? and at 12 mo when cow's milk is introduced, how do you go about it?  Is formula dropped cold turkey?

Yep, all depends on age. I think snacks only became regular when breastfeeds were dropped around 9-10mths to help get through to the next meal/milk feed. I did introduce snack earlier than that, but it was more of a random thing rather than a necessity.
