ssh pat questions...turning on side?
« on: September 19, 2006, 17:45:50 pm »
We used this on our young baby to get him to sleep in his crib after makikng the mistake of letting him sleep in a vibrating bouncer until he was twoo weeks old. We put a firm hand on his tummy instead of the back patting and this worked.

Now he grabs and tries t manipulate your hand if left on his tummy but I can't seem to turn him over and pat his back.  He flails when on his side and it is certainly not a position he would relax in.

1) What to do with pat when sssh patting? I am hoping to use if to help with dummy removal but can't seem to get it right.

2) After swimming for the first time today my 4 month old was obviously overtired or overstimulated and fell asleep in the car on the way home.  I transferred to crib and gave him the dummy - he woke up after 15 mins (had 10 in the car) and would not go back to sleep, tried ssh patting etc, what do you do once they have got to this point, I tried for 30 minutes with no joy and now he is knackered 1 1/4 hours before his bedtime.

I would find that my DD couldn;t transfer from the car to crib or stroller to crib and the same thing would happen.

In your case I would have tried to sneak in a small catnap to get him through to bedtime.

As for the pat/shh have you tried using a firm hand on his thigh?
