Need Help on EASY routine for my 3M
« on: October 05, 2006, 05:07:06 am »
Hi Everyone,

I'm having some difficulty with setting up a routine for my daughter. She will be 3 months next Wednesday so I think I should stick to a 3+ routine? I've been reading Hogg's second book but I'm following it loosely...I don't think it's working out too well. Her naps are about 30 minutes, but when she wakes up from them, I can't get her back to sleep with any type of soothing. So I was wondering if you wonderful ladies can device a routine for my girl. We BOTH desperate need some guidance. Here's some issues I think should be put into consideration:

1. Her bedtime needs to be around 9PM since my husband gets home late and I want some father/daughter time.

2. Her naptime is only 30 minutes, when she wakes up, I cannot put her back to sleep, so I need some advice here.

3. She sleeps great at night, 10-11 hours, sometimes 12 hours!

4. Should we stick to just one crib for both naps and bedtime? We have an upstairs crib (bedtime) and a downstairs crib (for naps), and I'm not sure if this would confuse her?

5. I do use white noise machine and she's great at going to sleep on it. My main problem right now is her short naps and not able to put her back to sleep when she wakes up from it.

I would so appreciate advice and some kind of routine appropriate for her age (3 Months), and our current situation.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

Chrissy

Have you tried wake to sleep? You shouldn't wait until your LO is fully awake, you need to go in before hand and help her transition. I found Tracy's third book really helpful for this. You should also check out the FAQs in the nap section they have some really great stuff.

Could you give me an outline of your current routine?

The only problem I can forsee if that 9pm is to late at 3 months you'll need that to be closer to 7pm. I know thats not what you want to hear, and I really do understand. My DP also works late, but you need to concider your DD's needs for the time being. Right now she is overtired and untill you have that under control I'm afread she'll be really hard to settle and continue having 1/2 hour naps. Once she's settled into a good routine you'll find life much quieter and managable. Also your DP will still have time with her. Its not going to be as much as you would like, or even him, but with time and a good routine the time will increase.
