mashing foods instead of jars
« on: November 05, 2006, 21:00:23 pm »
My LO is 7 months and a week. She's 17 lbs.
Is it ok to mash bannaas or mash apples/pears or steam up some brocolli or make squash for example INSTEAD of buying the level 1 beachnut fruits and veggies? If she stopped eating those than do you think
she might eat them if I make them? Or probably no difference.
As mentioned in another post she is eating her cereals and bottles.

i haven't read the other post but are you saying she will not eat the jarred food?
DD would NEVER eat jarred food (except the very odd pudding) and i can't blame her as they all taste the same :-X
i always used to steam DDs veg etc as they have more taste.

I think it is great that your LO wants the fresh stuff mashed  It is better for her.  I personally do the fresh stuff and mash it.  My LO does eat out of jar, but I prefer to make my baby food like you are doing.  It is probably healthier.

Ryan never had a jar ! We pureed/mashed all his foods and had loads in the freezer . I say if she prefers it then go with it , you know exactly what your LO is eating .Ryan had severe reflux and a lot of jarred food has spices in it and things i had to avoid with reflux so we never introduced jars

In  my honest opinion fresh is best & I was rather glad my boys never ate jar stuff... jar stuff is really a modern invention & not necessarily best for babies
