Longer A times?
« on: November 06, 2006, 21:21:36 pm »
Hi Ladies! Abby is 6 months, 1 week. She was doing 1.5 hour naps on a 4 hour EASY up until last week, on Wednesday, to be exact. Last week was screwy with Halloween, and shots on Wednesday (enter SUPER crabby baby for 3 days!) Any way, now her naps are only 40 min to 1 hour unless she is exhausted. I'm trying to figure out if her routine is just goofed up, or if she is ready for 2.5 - 3 hours of A time. Our routine is listed below, and is generalized, it can vary about 30 min either way...

6:30 - wake, solids/BF
7-8:30 - A
8:30-10 - S
10 - 10:30 - A
10:30 - BF
1045 - 12 - A
12 - 130 - S
130 - 230 - A
230 - solids/BF
245 - 330 - A
330 - 400 - S
400 - 600 - A
600 - 630 - wind down and bed time

thanks!

My lo is one week shy of 6 months and I had similar problems with napping.  His first nap was at 9am and I extended it to 9:15 and his second nap was at 1:00 and I extended it to 1:30.  It instantly made a difference on the length of his naps.  I found it really hard to keep him awake longer because he was so grumpy and I was worried he was going to get overtired and not be able to fall asleep.  He fell asleep fine and I just had to pack him around a little more before his nap time.  I had no idea that extending awake time would change his length of naps....thanks to Zoey who recommended the change!
