15wks - constant night waking
« on: November 15, 2006, 15:31:34 pm »
I posted over in the EASY forum thinking maybe my EASY needs some tweaking, and thought Id post over here too.

How old is your child? 15wks
What’s his/her daily routine? ranges from 3.5 to 4 hours easy (routine posted below)
What’s nap routine? walk into room, turn humidifier on(white noise), turn off glow lamp, swaddle, into bed
How long are naps? 1.5 to 2 hours
What's bedtime routine? Time? dad does bath, massage, jammies, bottle, swaddle into bed by 7pm
Do you bottle or breastfed?? bottle feed
How much? or how long? varies from 4-8oz each feed. depending on her day she has 4 or 5 bottles plus dream feed
If breastfed.. one side or both?? (at each feed)
How many wakes per night? lately its been 6 +
What’s your LO like when waking at night? How long is he/she up? cranky, kind sounds like "my god why cant i sleep somebody please put me to sleep"
When you go to him/her is she fussing or crying? Or is it a mantra cry? fussing. we never let it turn into a cry
What have you tried to settle?? shhh/pat
What do you do for A time and how long is it? A time is 1.75 to 2 hours, plays in exersaucer, we go for a walk in the sled, tummy time, patty cake with mom. sometimes we read a story
Are there developmental issues such as teething or milestones? she drools alot but no other signs of teething. was rolling over but that happened wks ago. nothing else i can think of
Have you introduced cereal? Why, how much, and how many times a day? (for LO’s under 6 months) no solids as yet
Do they have a prop? If so what is it? we swaddle
Do they have a lovie? there is a duck hankie hanging by velcro on the side of her crib. thats about it..

Her sample routine:
7am – eat 3 oz
8:40 – nap
10:10 – wake up – she woke on her own
11am – eat 8oz
12:20pm – nap
2pm – she woke on her own
2:40pm- 7oz
4:10pm – catnap
5pm – wake up
6:30-bath, massage, jammies,
6:40pm-6oz
6:45pm – bedtime

Have you always had this many wakings? Sometimes dreamfeed can interfere with sleep.  It worked really well with my first son but second one hasn't helped at all.  Dropped it last night and had one of our best nights.  For the last couple of nights he woke every hour from 1.30 last night woke for feed at 12.30 slept till morning.  Apparently this is quite common. Other thing i wondered if her first waking was always at the same time?

I have tried dropping the dreamfeed the last couple of days but it seems she wakes for it around 10pm anyway and gets really mad if I dont feed her.  Should I persist and not feed her? Or feed her and hope that it gets longer and longer before she asks for this first night feed? She does take a full feed when I give it to her.

Her first waking is never consistent with time. I thought about doing W2S but it wont help us because she wakes up very sporadically.

When we were doing the dreamfeed and having great nights, she would dreamfeed at 10pm and wake at anywhere from 2:30-4:30 for a feed and sleep until morning.

Now when doing dream feed she started waking anywhere from 1am - 3am and up every half hour to hour until I finally pull her out of bed.

How about trying w2s for the dreamfeed to see if that will stop her waking at 10 and then see what happens.

Thats a fantastic idea! I'll give that a try. Thanks!
