time for bed ok?
« on: November 15, 2006, 23:28:06 pm »
my 9 week old has been sleeping through the night since birth.  he has been on some form of EASY since birth Also.  He doesn't do dream feeds at this point.  I am wondering if I am putting him to bed to late or if it's ok.  I am putting him to bed at about 10:00-10:30.  I feed him at 9:00 and then it is bath and bed.  he sleeps until about 6-6:45 am when he wakes feeds and goes right back to sleep until 8:30-9:00.  Is this normal for this age?  I am noticing on the Easy scheduals posted on the 0-3 month forum that most are going to bed at 7:30-8.  should I be putting him down earlier and dream feeding him?

Lucky you for having a baby that sleeps through the night! My 2 year old just started sleeping through the night a few months ago.  :P

As for your question, that bedtime sounds fine to me.  My kids went to bed around that time (if I was lucky :P).  Is there any problem for you with that bed time?

DS goes to bed between 10-11, as well. I don't see any problems it, especially if they are sleeping through the night! Max is 8.5 weeks old....

I recomend a 7PM bedtime myself, but it does look like your LO is doing very well with that time. Why mess with a good thing  ;) :)

I think if that bedtime is working for her then that is fine. My DD used to go to bed late also and started going down earlier and earlier all on her own. Now at 6mo she is going to bed 7-7:30 and sleeping 12hrs. She has recently dropped the catnap and is having 2, 1.5-2hr naps.

Have you tried putting him to bed early? How does he react to it?  If he doesn't handle it well then stick to the bedtime you have. But I strongly recommend an earlier bedtime, between 7 and 8.  You want them to establish good sleeping habits and routines to last them a lifetime ;)

I defintely agree with Rebeca, I would suggest an earlier bedtime, as it prevents your lo from getting overtired.  You can always clusterfeed before bath and again before bed, and then do a dreamfeed at 10 to help your lo tank up.  Try it and see how you get on.

He is doing really well for sleeping through the night at his age.  You are doing great  :)
