Hey!!! Maybe they will begin  to post it where BF moms are welcome in public. I  don't know if you guys heard but DELTA airlines kicked a young mother off a flight not long ago for  BF and refusing to cover up with a blanket.  Yesterday a  group of rogue moms targeted 14 airports with  DELTA terminals and had a "sit in BF party" at their counter!!!   I live in TN and Nashville was  one of the targets. I don't necessarily agree with  putting BF in people's faces but they were certainly asserting their  right to  BF anywhere both mom and baby were legally allowed to be.   Maybe we can all start posting this in our businesses and homes as a "safe place" for BF moms!!! :D ;D ;)

Thanks for adding the link Rachel.
Yup, the plan is to promote it as a sign which could be used for lots of purposes esp. to advertise the 'mother and baby/feeding room' where at the moment only a bottle symbol might be used.
I saw a very odd symbol the other day where a baby was having a nappy change and a bottle on the sign simultaneously - really hope noone tries that.

p.s I said phew - for anyone who didn't see the original thread - because the other 2 finalists were awfulllllllllllllll.

Love the symbol.   Dont like what those moms did.   Why not EDUCATE instead if INSTIGATE?  If people act they have lost their minds who is going to respect them?     I think we all have to act RATIONAL in an irrational world.   Not everybody understands.....and they wont with THOSE kinds of "lessons".

My 2 cents..

I agree.  It is all about respecting others and them respecting us.  I don't think the lady was wrong in BFing her child but at the same time she needs to respect others comfort levels and maybe there was someone who didn't feel comfortable without her covering up.  I don't know what the harm of putting a blanket over her was.  I don't know about the decision to throw her off the plane though.  I don't really agree with that either.  I think it is better to educate and talk about things too.

I don't know what the harm of putting a blanket over her was.

There's not a harm, but after 6 months I KNOW that my little one wouldn't keep a blanket over her and she would play with it rather than eat.

i think the blanket request (when she was already being discrete) goes in the same stupid basket as all the requests for mothers to feed in restrooms - it is so ridiculous in my mind to ask mothers to hide away while they feed - i am sorry but it really is up to the other people IMO to learn to adapt to the fact that BFing is more common now than it was in the 70s... and there WILL be mothers and babies out in the open and as long as a woman is attempting to be discrete (ie she cannot help it if a baby were to suddenly pull off the breast so i say attempt) i think that is all we can ask of women - i think a Bf session like the one above is a good idea and not too confrontational in my mind - it is not like they walked around bare breasted with babies in their arms...

women will feel comfortable and fully supported when OTHERS shift their mindset to accept that children need to be fed and whether a woman uses a bottle or a breast is her choice and should not be mandated/dictated by others and their sense of what is appropriate

i also think the symbol is great and hope to see it displayed more wherever necessary.

We went on vacation recently and I fed my 12 mth old dd on the plane, I never used a blanket over her head as she would have thought I was trying to play Peek-A-Boo and it was too hot on the plane. I do always make sure I wear something easy to feed in and something that can cover up quite well. No one said anything (and it's a good thing for them otherwise they would have gotten an earful!). I think forcing someone to use a blanket is in the same catagory as telling someone to bf in the bathroom, I would like to see an adult eat their lunch with a blanket over their head to see how comfortable and easy it would be!

I like the new symbol as well. I always wondered why the feeding symbol in public bfing rooms (malls, etc) showed a bottle when a bottle can be given anywhere.

That's great!  Really like that symbol (it's also the one I voted for, and I think it was in 2nd place at the time).

Ladyboggess, Gippie, and Meltown, there is a thread regarding the Delta issue if you want to check and out and chat about....https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=77142.0

This has become of VERY hot debate topic here in DC.  A LOT of moms (BFeeders and bottlefeeders) have the same opinion as Meltown and Gippie.  I personally support these women and think that the deomonstration is education based.  I have really be enlighted though from those w/opposing view regarding this.   Anyway.....link is above ladies if you're interested.

Take care,
Tari
