can u give me ur input?
« on: November 27, 2006, 13:00:02 pm »
ok , so for the last 2 mo we've had no end of health issues and alas, DS has been rocked to sleep (some eves madly for 4 hrs) for this time. I'm confident that he's better now except for 1 tooth i can see coming through. We havent had 1 full nights sleep (or any strectch longer than 3 hrs) in 2 months and I was wondering whether u reckon I should start wi/wo. Previously I was using the 'chair method' for pu/pd but think hes too old for this now. Do u think i need to wait till the tooth is well and truly through?
Last night he was asleep 7pm then woke 1 am (gav ehim calpol) he woke again 4.20 and stayed awake till 615 :o :o :o I went to work this morn but DP said he slept in till 8.45.
This is my other issue, we r between 1 and 2 naps at mo as i think he can take longer A times too, hence we seem to have a bad routine.
Could desperate use some help with understanding why he is waking in the night? ( doesnt seem in a lot of pain, or bothered by something) and whether I sould start wi/wo even though hes not 100% better.
here is a 'good day' routine

wake 6am
E breakfast then  9.00 bottle
S 9.30-10.15
A
E l 12.30 lunch
A
S 2.30-4
A
E dinner 6.30
7 bath bottle bed

TIA

Michelle,
I'm no expert here, but if you want to try to go to go down to 1 nap I think it would be wise to start bringing the after lunch nap up to 1.30 rather than 2.30pm and lunch at 12 noon. and therefore letting him have more A time before actual bed-time.

Big hugs and I'll PM you about the 'Immacolata'!! :-*

Here is our avaerage routine at 16 months.

7-8: wake
Breakfast, playing etc.
Has his lunch and milk and is asleep by
12-2/3: Nap
Play, walk, dinner, bath, milk
7-8: Bed

So we have some natural variablility in our day, as I don't wake him to start the day, just go on his cues for nap which has turned out he's usually fast asleep by noon. I find any later he tends to sleep less and then fights bed time. I'd say we get between 13-15 hours of sleep per day depending. Well, 15 is about once a week or so....

It took us a while to get used to one nap. For a while he would go down at 11:30.

Sometimes he may stir at around that time, but with a little pat he falls back again. I don't know if this is considered a prop, but whatever it is, I'm sticking with it!

And as I said, it took us a while for this nap to really fall into place like it has. I think when they first transition they can get overtires, and when this happened, I would go for an earlier bedtime to even things out a little
