age for toddler bed?

My 10-mo old has been sleeping in a playpen since we're in a small 1-bdrm apartment.  How old does she need to be before I can transition her to even just a little toddler bed if not a regular bed that's low to the floor? (We'll be moving to a bigger apt. in the next 6 or 7 months.)

We took the sides off Matthew's cotbed to turn it from a cot into a toddler bed when he was 2yrs 3 months.

Wait as long as you can--once they can get out of bed, its a whole new set of sleep issues!   (Just my experience--BTW, we switched at 2 years 2 months).

We switched our son to his own bed at 2 1/2 yrs.  I had a friend who switched her son at 18 months though.  Good luck!

We moved Mikey into his own bed at 2yr 1mo

We changed Samantha's cotbed into a bed when she was 18 months.
We had just moved into this house and as she was in a new room I decided
to do it then.  She has been wonderful, no major issues, a few putting back into
bed at the beginning but only for a couple of weeks.  Now she goes to bed around
7.30pm and that's her until 7.30am 

Of course her big brother was a different kettle of fish 

Every child is different and if you feel now is the time then go for it I say.
