Problems with 1o month eating lumps
« on: January 03, 2007, 15:27:43 pm »

Hi All.

I feel really stupid, and feel that I am doing something wrong.

My ds is 10 months old, and I am having problems with him eating lumps. He seems to gag after a while, and then refuses. I have to resort to pureed food to get him to eat anything.

I would love some suggestions please, as I am feeling like a faliure.

His first teeth have only just pierced the surface ( on Christmas day ), but still aren't fully through.

I am pulling my hair out.

Ds is a spirited child, and has his own pace with everything.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hayley x

We had that problem. We started solids at 6 months, with 4 month jars. It means that he would only have been ready for the 7 month jars (with lumps) at about 9 or 10 months.

Don't worry about it, I don't know any adult who can't eat lumps  ;)

I would completely puree everything for a while and then maybe start with some soft finger foods (like banana) to let him get used to it.

I bet he is fine :)

Phew I am glad that I am not he only one. I feel that there is so much pressure to do things a certain way.

The whole weening process with DS has been gradual.

He doesn't like to be rushed, and if you do rush him, you are likely to get the opposite result to what you want. Sounds like somebody I know he he he
