Ok a friend of mine jst had her 18month check up with her DS and was told only 200mls 8ozs of milk is required and she needs to cut back on the amount she is giving.
What are you guys in the US&UK told?

It is usually 2 cups, so 16 ounces.

well im not either im canadian but i know its 16 ounces whole milk to age two from the pamplets i have and from my doctor. 

I still love you even thought you didnt say canadian too!

Our pediatrician told us between 16-20oz.  However, we give Tyler a Lot more than that because he loves milk so much.

Ds is 16months and has about 20oz

5 or 6oz in the morning and his usual mammoth amount at bedtime. ::)

Natasha, I'm guessing that the comment was made in relation to her also being asked about other dairy.
I know that milk is not considered important here in Aus, rather the calcium from dairy... at 18mo Liam was taking NO milk, but ate yogurt, custard, cheese etc & that was fine with my health nurse as his total dairy intake fitted the amount

The other reason why total milk volumes are recommended to be less is to try & increase water as milk doesn't hydrate as well & with hot summer & it documented over 70% of the australian population are are dehydrated getting children to drink water is important... from memory they should actually drink about 700ml- 900lm/day of water or very dilute juice & so high milk volume cuts back on that

Thanks Katet for that Catherine drinks alot of water during the day and has yoghurt,cheese and custard everyday so we are cutting down on her milk now.
