Hi, my name is Elena and I was hoping to get some help for putting my 3.5 month old daughter on the EASY routine. Our current problems are that she has some breast refusal - she eats very little during the day and then makes up for it by waking up 4 or 5 times to nurse at night. Because she gets so little food during the day, she also doesn't sleep more than 45 mins at a time. I currently have her on a fairly flexible routine 3-3.5 hours between feeds but I was hoping that starting EASY would give her a chance to improve her eating and sleeping habits. (I currently always feed her when she just wakes up since she eats better when she's sleepy).
So, here's my question. I read the Baby Whisperer book and looked around this forum and I'm having a hard time understanding the routine. It says that there should be 3 naps, about 1.5 hrs each. I see, however, that most sample routines have 4 naps, with one short one in the evening? Does this work? Should she actually be getting 4 naps, not 3?
Our current approximate schedule is like this:
up at 5:30 or 6 (we then carry her in a sling until 6:30 or 7 so she'd sleep, but I'd love a way to just have her sleep til this time in the bassinet)
6:30 - 7 -- up for the day
try to feed (she usually refuses)
7 - 9 -- activity
9 - 10 or 10:30 nap
10 or 10:30 -- Eat
Activity
12 - 1:30 - nap
1:30 - Eat
Activity
3:30 - 5:00 nap
5:00 - Eat
Activity
Bed routine, 7 pm bedtime, eat before bed
Please, please help me fix this schedule so I can get her on a 3-hr schedule (rather than 3.5). What can I do? Should I be giving her a catnap in the evening?
Thanks so much for your help and for having such an informational site!
Elena
