Where does a rash start if LO has reaction to solids??
« on: January 24, 2007, 18:52:01 pm »
Hi
My LO is almost 5 months old. I tried him on rice cereal and oatmeal. He got a rash on his stomach and back. He also has a bit of exzema. I then changed to barley. Still has the rash? Any suggestions on what i shoud do?
Thanks
Andrea from Toronto Canada

Hi there,

Welcome to BW!

It is generally recommended to hold off on all solids until the 6 month mark as they little systems just aren't ready to handle them at this age. Here is some more info about this that is interesting to read http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/delay-solids.html

I guess the reash could be anywhere. Riley generally tends to break out on his legs the most if something doesnt agree with him. He also has excema. He even had it when I was just nursing if I ate too much dairy.

I would hold off on the solids for another little while if I were you, especially since he has had this reaction. Are you nursing or formula feeding?

Mine has reactions on torso.  I would also hold off if you think your lo is having a reaction.  Sometimes rice, barley and oats aren't as easy on their little systems as people think.
