Just cause I am sick as a dog or is her sleep messed up?
« on: February 04, 2007, 20:58:48 pm »
Hi all.  Did I mention I have been sick as a dog for a week?  I am wondering if she is just having an off skip in schedule or am I doing something wrong ie. asking too much of her sleep/nap

This is our normal day:

7.30 Awake by me
Noon Nap
2.30 Awake
7.45 Bedtime

Night sleep equals about 11.5 hours and nap sleep is average 2.5 hours
She will just be 18 months old next week.

The last three days have gone like this:

Night before bedtime 7.45 as usual
Wake 6.50
Nap 11.45 (as a consiquence of being up so early)
Awake 1.00 (only 1.5 hour nap that day)
Bedtime 7.00 (instead of 7.45 because she had been awake so long)

Next day:

Up at 6.30
Nap at 11.00 because she was miserable and cried all morning so I figured she was exhausted
Awake 12.30 (again only 1.5 hours of nap for the day)
Cat nap 4.30-5.00 Drove to the city slept on the way home for 30 mins
Bedtime 9.00 due to family event

Today:

Awake at 7.30 on her own
Nap at noon
Awake at 1.45

Can anyone tell me if she day sleep is too much, am I doing something wrong or is it just a hiccup?

Many thanks.

Is she sleeping all night with no wake ups?
Has anything changed during her day?  Daycare or anything?
Try to think of anything that can have happened.
Does she sleep all night regardless of her naps?
Like Stacy said it could be due to a drop in her sleep requirements, but if she doesn't have a long enough nap, then I would put her to bed at 6.30-7pm to ensure that she gets her night time rest.

I have had sleep problems with Alex lately, she is resisting bed time, but have found that if I cut her nap to 1.5-2hours then she is better.

Thank you very much ladies.  She is back to semi normal.  The thing that may have been different was that my dad was home those days and didn't go to work so his activity may have disturbed her.

Yesterday she woke normal but slept for 3 hours in the afternoon which was nice cause yesterday was a terrible day for me with the flu.  Today was very normal with a 2 hour nap and normal wake time.

Thanks again.  I think her normal day puts her at 13.5 hours at day so all SHOULD be good.

Dd is 2yr, and your normal day looks pretty much like ours except that dd goes to bed at 8pm and sometimes chatters for 15-20min before going to sleep.  One thing I have found is that regardless of how tired she seems, putting her down before noon ALWAYS results in a short nap, so I do my best to stretch her to noon, even if we spend the last 1/2hr curled up in a chair reading together to keep her settled.
