growth spurt or prop ?
« on: February 10, 2007, 01:27:36 am »
Sahria has always been a pretty good sleeper and has only ever needed 1 bottle overnight  :)

About 2 mths ago she was have a DF and then waking around 5.30 – 6am for a feed – amazing !

Then she started waking at 4 – 4.30am guzzling a bottle and then not waking till 7am – again not too bad !

But the last 5 nights she is now having her DF and then waking every 3 hours after this – I thought probably a growth spurt but 5 nights is it normally that long ?

In the past 3 weeks we struggled to get her to drink properly and she was having 100ml every 4 hours with 1 night wake and the only way we got around the feeding was to do it in the dark and ofcourse she would fall asleep so we try to rouse her before putting her down but it doesn’t always work

So my question is do you think that these night feeds are because she is having a growth spurt and is hungry or do you think she is becoming dependant on the bottle to help her sleep ?

During the day she can just lie there till she falls asleep and can re-settle

I’m going crazy thinking that this is now going to be the norm – she wakes her brother and some nights between the 2 of them I’m averaging 3.5 hours sleep

Please help with any advice

Madison does this to me sometimes - and it always ends up being a growth spurt. She never growth spurts at the typical times either  ::)

Has her waking at night become within the same hour every night?

Does she wake for a soother?

Have you started solids?

It could be a growth spurt but if it lasts a day or two more I would take a look at other things.  Solids mentioned by PP could be an issue.  Could you post your sch. It could need a little adjustment.
