every kids is different. Kennedy was at almost 3 and Thomas was at 2.5. That said my nephew was 5 and still napping. I know of others that it is much younger.
What I would do if I were you....is say okay you dont need to sleep, but you need to have quiet time in your room for 1 hour ( or what ever time YOU need).

Toby still has a nap at over 2 and a half. I sort of wish he wouldn't as his bedtime is getting later and later and eating into DH's and mine's quality together time! However if he doesn't have a nap he gets really grumpy!!
Some of his little friends don't nap any more, and then again, some of them don't slepp too well either!
I suppose what I'm saying is that every child is different!
The quiet time is a good idea - good luck!

Harry stopped napping about 2 months ago roughly, now he has quiet time in his room, where he lies in bed and reads his books . He also listens to his music box.

Juliet, We've been through periods of no napping here, too, both before and after Iris's arrival.  My strategy was to take her out to play on the playground in the morning for a good hour (more if possible) before lunch (also gets them hungrier, a bonus-- a nice big lunch induces a nice nap), get her good and tired, and tell her that she needed to stay in her room for quiet time.  She went back to napping.

That said, I think the time is coming soon when we will have to drop the nap unless we want to stay up with her until 11:00 pm every day.  Hopefully that day will coincide with her starting preschool so I still get my "me" time!

My son napped pretty consistantly until 3.5.  He will still nap once in a while now but rarely.  We still have him go in his room for quiet time, but we want to move the baby in there soon, so he'll have to do his quiet time in the living room.  He's not usually very quiet anyway (he knows how to turn on every light in his room!)

Age varies alot, but its common no matter the age for them to start to refuse n aps when a new baby arrives. I would echo what others say and atleast your child learn to take quiet ti me.

Same here.

There's also a sticky at the top of the forum that deals with this.

THanks for the suggestions everyone. She really needs her nap and has been a grump without it. I think it is because she is unsettled by new baby. Will definatley try to tire her out with outdoor play (weather permitting) and the quiet time sounds good too.

thanks again

PS Sabrina, do you rerad every thread on this entire board, or is it that you and I always look at the same ones?  ;)
