wind down ritual for 10 week old
« on: April 03, 2007, 10:33:56 am »
could someone give me an example of what they do and how long they spend with a wind down ritual for a nap. i find my ds is getting more difficult to settle once he is in the cot.
i bring him up, sawddle, shut curtains and sing a song and put him down.  i only spend between 5-10 mins doing this as once he calms i put him down- should i hold on to him longer when he calms.
Also when he starts crying in cot, he use to settle quickly now he doesnt.  i turned him on his side and shh pat today and he settled really quickly, but wondering should i be doing this so soon, should i give him longer to resettle, will he get dependent on this.
thankyou

Your wind down routine sounds fine as does the length. As for shh/patt he may only need a few days or even up to a week for him to settle down and start falling asleep on his own.
