hiring a baby whisperer
« on: April 03, 2007, 13:06:04 pm »
ive had a few really tiring napping days where i feel like im spending all my time trying to get my ds back to sleep.i feel like just quitting EASY but ive only been doing it 3 or 4 weeks and there has been an improvement in his sleeping at night and even though his naps are poor they were worse before
out of curiousity and tiredness does anyone know can you hire someone that teaches you how to do the techniques correctly.
i live in ireland-so even if there is someone in the u.k.
thanks

I don't know of anyone that actually goes out to your house, but if you post your questions here, I am sure you will get loads of help.

Can you post your current routine including E, A times how long, as well as naps how long including your wind down routine and we can have a look at it for you.

Also how old is yoru lo?

It certainly sounds like great idea when you are really tired.

Be strong and to get help here, post your routine.

ok- having difficulty with second nap now-use to be able to resettle him, but now it just isnt working.
starts his day between 6-7

E 6.30-7/7.15
A 7-7.30
S 7.30-9 (SOMETIMES HE CAN GO LONGER AND I WAKE HIM AT THE 2HR MARK-or his activity time goes a little longer (1hr 10)meaning he will wake at 9.30- to date he has always gone down well at this nap and slept thru).

IF HE WAKES AT 9 I USUALLY WAIT UNTIL 9.30 TO FEED AND IF HE WAKES AT 9.3O I FEED. Neither pattern seems to influence the next nap.
HIS WAKE TIME IS THEN APPROX 1HR 10MINS
I TRY TO MAKE THE LAST 10 MINS LOW KEY BY JUST SINGING OR TALKING AND THIS HAS HELPED WITH SETTLING.
HE RARELY CRIES FOR HIS FOOD but will always feed well, AND HIS LAST FEED IS ALWAYS AT 7 AFTER HIS BATH AT 6.30

Depending on his times his afternoon feed would be around 3.45 or 4.
At 5 we will go for a walk. (as have been house bound all day) he has never really catnapped more than 20 mins and our walks can go for over an hr to an hr and a half.
He can get cranky around 6 if we are in the house, but seems to be content if we are walking
He has a bath at 6.30, which he loves
His last feed is at 7 and then dream feed at 11.

He does sleep well during the nghtt- although todays naps were the worse yet so ill see if there is a knock on affect.
its just the last three days that the second nap is also going pear shaped and that i am unable to resettle him.
HE WILL WAKE AFTER 40 MINS AND I ONLY WAIT A COUPLE OF MINS BEFORE I ENTER.  HE WILL CRY LOUDER WHEN AND AGIN WHEN I SHH OR PUT MY HAND ON HIM. I TURN HIM ON HIS SIDE AND START SHH PATIT WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF MINS FOR HIM TO SETTLE. HE WILL CALM AND I WILL CONTINUE FOR. I USE TO CONTINUE FOR 7 BUT FIND THAT HE WILL CRY STraiGHT AFTER now. I SHH PAT AND HE WILL BELLOW OUT A CRY EVERY 5 MINS, ARCH HIS BACK, ARCH HIS HEAD BACK WITH HIS EYES WIDE OPEN,HE WILL THEN CALM AND 5 MINS LATER DO THE SAME.
I AM FINDING IT REALLY DISHEARTENING and am spending so much time in the room with himand getting no where.and wondering how long can i keep doing this as i am exhausted.
HE IS NEVER GRUMPY AFTER THIS BUT HE CAN BE SLEEPY, HAVE A SLEEPY FEED AND NOT NAP PROPRLLY AGAIN.

i dont know if he should move to a 3.5 EASY as i dont know if he has enough wake time. he is big so i dont know if size is anything to do with moving on (over 15lbs and 10 weeks old)

can he get dependent on me spending all this time doing shh pat

thankyou
