Well, for a long time she would take only 3 oz. unless I "tricked" her by feeding her when she was pret-near sleeping or letting her bat at hanging toys, and she seemed not to realize she was eating even. Since removing these props and working for a few days, she eats anywhere from 3-7, most often around 5. But I weighed her today, and she is around 19 lbs. Yesterday she took 23 ounces and wouldn't take a DF. So I'm thinking I'd best go to the Dr. He won't want to do anything, due to her great weight. But I think she gained because of my "tricks," you know?

Well, tricks aren't always a bad thing... sometimes you have to do what you have to do. We employed a lot of tricks as well in Colin's early months when his reflux was really bad. My advice is to do whatever works each day to get as much into her as possible, and once you see the doctor and figure out if dys. or any other medical issue is a factor then decide about the DF.

During her daytime feeds, she only wants to take generally 2 or 3 ounces, sometimes 4, but that's rare. Then we keep on, trying to get her to take at least 6, but we settle for 5 or less usually. And I mentioned already, I think, that she weighs 19 lbs., but I think she's only managed this due to the fact that we keep on trying to feed her, feed her when she's sleeping/sleepy, etc. If we gave in, she'd take maybe 15 oz. per day.

Am going to Dr. today.

He was realllly reluctant to do anything, due to her great weight. After pushing and pushing, he gave me a referral to ped. gastroenterologist and said that doc would have to order the MBSS--he wouldn't do it with a "healthy" baby.

I really do hope that it's just Josie's appetite. But I felt like with such low oz. preference I had to follow through and be sure. Hope I'm not being too anal, you know?

:P  doctors  ::)   We had similar trouble when trying to get Colin diagnosed. Since he was big and healthy it was hard for us to convince anyone that he had reflux, and it was so obvious! You're definitely not being anal.
