Hi all - this is my first post after browsing for a few weeks now....so much information!!
I have a few questions that maybe some of you can help me with (I apologise if they have already been answered in another post but it would take me forever to read thru everything
My lo is 9 weeks old and has never really been a great feeder. She was quite sicky for the first 2-3 weeks but this settled down and she was eventually taking at least 4oz each feed and managing to keep it down.
Over the last couple of weeks the sicky thing has returned. I wondered if she was perhaps holding a lot of wind as when I tried to wind her nothing would come up until a day later she would start bringing her feeds up while burping/coughing (hope that makes sense!) I started using Infacol and this seemed to improve her burping for a little while. However, I am now in a situation where she has dropped the number of oz she is taking per feed and the lack of burping has returned as well as the sicky thing.
As she is a windy baby, I tend to stop half way thru a feed to wind her however as soon as I try to get her back to finish the bottle, she's having none of it! She does everything but drink...plays with the teat in her mouth, giggling away to herself then pushes it away or clamps her mouth shut! Yesterday she only took about 21oz the whole day and she is 11lb 8oz (she was 8lb 2.5oz at birth). The health visitor weighed her yesterday and advised that she should be taking approx 27oz in a 24hour period but she is a good weight for her age and has gained steadily since her 6 week check.
I'm wondering if I should stop winding half way thru and just let her continue until she decides she's had enough?? I'm just worried that if I do that the wind will build up and cause her greater discomfort or she will bring up the whole feed rather than just a little bit.
She seems well and happy in herself so should I stop stressing so much and just assume that she will eat what she needs?!
PS She is using a medium flow teat and has done since she was about 2wks old. Thanks!
