Are grumpy's always grumpy?
« on: May 03, 2007, 01:44:23 am »
Our dd is 8mths old and is still grizzly most of the time.  We've tried every path under the sun (docs, peads, osteo, naturopath etc etc) to no avail.  Are some babies just grizzly a lot of the time for no reason i.e. are some babies perfectly happy but just grumpy?

She is a grumpy / touchy based on the BW test.  She sleeps really well now but grizzles most of the day, hates the car, won't let anyone near her etc etc.  She is growing and developing well.

I'm wondering whether to accept this as the way she is or keep prodding docs etc for answers.

mine was.  still is, to a certain degree.  he was a touchy/grumpy as well.  it was around 8 months old that things started to improve slightly.  in our case, the more he could do independently, the more cheerful his temperment.

he's now just past 2 years old, and you would not know this was the same baby.  he is much more cheerful & textbook now, though when he is angry or frustrated i see the grumpy side of him again.  :)

My DD scored spirited/touchy but when you read the descriptions in the various books, grumpy fits her to a T.  There have been so many days that have been a struggle to get through because she's just so darn disagreeable sometimes.  I keep hoping it will change as she ages, but I suspect there will always be a thread of it there.

Mmm... my LO was grumpy, but she isn't anymore. But I do agree that some babies, are just born grumpy and will always need to have a little huff every now and then.

I'm not sure what changed it for Mira. Do you know the first time she smiled she was 15 weeks old?? That was so hard... Even now though, she's not one of those babies just smiles at everyone. She's wary.. good I think, when it comes to strangers!
