16mo waking with wind from bedtime bottle?
« on: May 05, 2007, 18:41:22 pm »
Hi, I had posted this topic on Eating For Toddlers' board but had no replies! I just wanted hear if anyone had experienced anything similar?

My DS only has 2 bottles now - AM and PM. But it seems with the bedtime bottle, he often suffers from wind during the night. We do try to wind him before he goes to sleep, but quite often, nothing comes up.

We have also made a big hole in the teet thinking this would help with the wind - but it hasn't - maybe the milk is comung out too fast now? We have also tried milk in a sippy, but while he happily drinks water all day long from one - he wants his milk in a bottle!

In your opinion, do you think the wind is due to the teet or possibly to food eaten during the day? He has his main meal at lunchtime and tea (sandwiches) at 5pm. Bedtime and bottle is at 7-7.15ish
Also, when is the best age to stop bottles for good?
Thanks!
Lis and Nicholas

hmmm IMO making a huge hole in the bottle would make it worse rather than better as more air going in, I would have infact used a slower flwo teat. Are you sure the wind is from the bottle and not from what he's eating? how long before bed does he have the bottle? Maybe try earlier?
U can also give some drops for wind i think, like mylicon or something

Thanks for the advice.  Actually, when I think about it,since broccoli went out of season here, the wind has been better! But you wouldn't think that eating broccoli at 11.45am would effect DS's tum at 10pm and later, would you? We'll see how it goes.
We're onto salad stuff now and he loves tomato, cucumber and lettuce all chopped up so he can help himself!

Do you not give your DS a bottle of milk at bedtime now?
