4-3 bottles
« on: May 11, 2007, 16:58:47 pm »
I've read the FAQ boards and most of the threads I thought would apply and I cannot seem to come up with a plan that works. Well, I thought I had a plan but it failed miserably yesterday.

Our routine the last two weeks:
6-6.30 am wake up
7am - bottle 6oz (sometimes only takes 3oz)
730-8am - breakfast - egg yolk, banana chunks, toast etc
9-10 nap
11am - bottle 3oz
12pm - lunch - veggies, meat etc
130-3pm nap
3pm - bottle 6oz
5pm - supper - what the family is having
630 - bath, massage, jammies
645 - bottle 8oz
7pm - sleeping

Yesterday I tried to cut out the 11am bottle and it totally bombed. She woke last night at 930 all stir crazy. Finally got her back down at 10pm.  She again woke at 5am this morning (totally unusual).  I couldnt get her back to sleep and ended up feeding her at 545am - she took 3oz and took the other 3oz at 630.  Breakfast happened at 7-730 this morning.  She took an entire bottle (6oz) at her 11am bottle which she hasn't done in two weeks.  I'm guessing this is because she received her bottle today 1 hour earlier than normal, thus having breakfast about 1 hr earlier.

Should I give her the bottle as soon as she wakes up in the morning and offer breakfast at 7am - thus keeping the 11am bottle or should I preservere with the dropped 11am bottle?

I should clarify that I offered a snack at 10:30 of cheese and crackers. She ate them up really good.  I gave her a bottle at 1.15pm - she drank the whole 6oz.  So for the afternoon I offered her a snack at 330pm (yogurt, until she refused to eat anymore), supper at 5pm as usual and took the 8oz at bedtime.

Today I put her back on the 4 hour routine for bottles and again at 11am she only took 3oz, refused refused refused the rest.

Suggestions please  :-[

Hi Lisa,

It does sound like your lo is getting ready to drop the 11am bottle.  Could this just be a co-incidence that she woke early and was fussy?

When we did 3 bottles a day our day looked something like this

7:00am bottle followed by cereal

9:30ish / 10:00am - Snack of toast with cream cheese on

11:30 - lunch followed by a pudding of either a yogurt or fruit pot

2:30 bottle

4:30 - 5:00 - dinner followed by a pudding of either a yogurt or fruit pot

7:00 - 8oz bottle

Perhaps you could try upping the afternoon bottle to say 7/8 oz to see if she would take more.

It could be that she needs to adjust to the new routine.

I would give it time.

Let me know if this looks reasonable:

6am wake up 7oz bottle
7/730 breakfast - toast or whatever
9-10 nap
11:20 lunch (gotta get big brother from school at 1145)
130-3pm nap  THIS is where it gets weird.  Do I offer a bottle at 115 or at 3pm? Should I offer a light snack at about 1245 to tied over until end of nap and offer the bottle at 3pm in your opinion?
5pm - supper
645 bedtime bottle
7pm - bedtime

That looks good.  The only way you will know is once you have tried it for a few days.

With regards a snack before her nap in the afternoon, you could always keep the yogurt or pudding from lunch and offer it before the nap - that way she has something in her tummy before she goes to sleep.

Then when she wakes from her nap you could offer her the 2nd bottle.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.
