I'm taking the big bed plunge
« on: May 29, 2007, 19:56:25 pm »
Yep, we moved Alex's bedroom and decided to get her new furniture and get the toddler bed down ready  ::)

Well when we came to put it together there was a screw loose, don't know how, maybe lost in the house move.  Anyway, when we had a good look we decided that it wouldn't go with the new furniture so are getting her a new one.
We decided to get a cot bed so that we can sling her cot out and transfer her to the new one straight away and we will try the bed initially and if she performs then we have the option of putting the sides back on.

What do you all think?  The bed should be with us within 28 days.

Good luck!!!

We just switched DD to a big bed at 13 months, while she had SA, teething, independant sleep issues, 2-1 transition and some major changes in our household.  And she is a slow adjuster.

And now, one month down the track, she is giggling herself to sleep which she has never ever done before.  You can do it ;)

She only tried to get out a couple of times, for once I think doing this younger may have been on our side, she isn't the greatest climber yet ;) ;D However, she did have the SA - I think if you just keep on putting her back if she climbs out, she will get the message, it has worked for all our other sleep issues. :-*

Good Luck.  I'm sure it will be fine.  Tyler actually sleeps better now in a big boy bed than he did in his crib?!?!?

Good luck with the move, it may be easier than you think

BTW, what's the difference between a cot bed and a toddler bed ?

way to go mari

i'm thinking a cot bed is a cot that can have the sides removed so it looks like a small bed, wish we had one of those, would have been great and a toddler bed is just a smalll bed, correct me if i am wrong

I cant remember how old Alex is! I know shes roughly the same age as Harvey, hes 2 in just under 2 weeks and he's having his bed on his birthday!! We bought it last night from Ikea and I cant wait!! Will be interesting though, think we will need to purchase a stairgate for his room!! Im not worried about him falling or anything, Im sure he'll be fine! Its just the thought of him appearing 100 times a night that is worrying me......  :-\
