My son will be 2 in August and has been taking a 3 31/2 hour nap everyday.  12:00 to 3:30/3:30.

I read somewhere on the internet that if your chid takes long naps (up to 4 hours) it could be a sign of anemia.

I am just wondering how long does your lo (around the same age) nap and what time is bedtime.

He goes to bed about 9:00 every night.  It used to be earlier, but now he can stay up later.

Thanks, Wendy

At almost 23 months:

8:30 out of bed (no idea when he wakes)
1-3 cribtime (sleeps anywhere from 0 - 2 hours)
8:30 bedtime

Having said that, ds has never been the best daytime sleeper.  :P

He sleeps from 9:00/9:30 to 7:00/7:30.

Today he woke after 2 hours, I am going to shoot for an 8:30 bedtime, but he never seems ready until 9:00

I am not sure about the anemia but I would cut that nap to 1.5-2hrs (the most) so that he is able to fall asleep faster at bedtime. He's getting 3hrs during the day and 10hrs at night.... which is the av really for a toddler (13hrs in total) except that most do 2hrs during the day and 11hrs at night. I think its up to you if you want to wake him and go for earlier bedtime or let him sleep and have the later bedtime.

On an average day, DS naps for about 2-2:15, but sometimes naps for 3 hours (once or twice he has even napped for 3:15). He seems to be a really happy kid after a 3 hour nap, and a long nap doesn't interfere with his sleep at night. In fact, he seems to sleep better at night following a long nap.

I never let DD nap later than 2.5hrs but she only seems to nap that long if she is sick or has had a bad night. Now days her nap is 1.5-2hrs and 11hrs at night.

I agree Layla, I just have to decide, so I want the long break during the day or have him go to bed earlier at night.  I do enjoy my break during the day since I am pregnant.

Tonight he went to bed at 8:45 which is fine by me, better than 9:30.

Thanks everyone!

If he is doing 10 hours over night and three during the day that is a good amount of time over all.  You may get a longer night out of him if you shorten the nap but will only get the extra sleep in the evening KWIM?
