need reassurance - is this normal for eating?

14 month old girl.
Always been picky eater and/or not eating at all. However, is this at least a bit average for her age?


This morning in 2 different sessions "6:30am and 9:30am"

1. almost a full 6 oz jar of (apples and bannanas baby cereal). Probably about 5 oz.
2. picked on an apple. took a few small bites
3. I believe she had 1 scrambled egg with cheese mixed in. I made two and I ate some and she threw some on the floor. but it looked like she had a decent amount. Sometimes she barely eats 1/2 of the scrambled I make her.

Note* Around 6:45am she had her first morning bottle and at around 10:15am...she had her 2nd morning bottle which she needs before her nap. She napped from 11:30-1pm. Not her usual 2 hours.

This afternoon so far:
2:00pm
1. 3 oz of baby yo gurt. they are 4 oz and she was being a little picky while I was trying to feed it to her.
2. 3/4 of a juice pop
3. Wouldn't eat anything else. Tried these meat sticks she sometimes picks on. She threw them on the floor

2:30pm "1/2 hour later"....BEGGED for her milk? Gave it to her eventually.

I will try supper later and she'll end up having one last bottle "or one BIG bottle split into 2 sessions" possibly 5pm and right before bed. It won't be until after we try dinner. It's 2:44pm now. I will probably try dinner anywhere between 4:30 and 5:30

It looks fine to me, but I'll give you what My dd was doing at that age and it was pretty standard...she is very picky too.

morning sippy 8 oz milk
breakfast - waffle w/peanut butter
Lunch - cheese chunks, crackers, veggie nugget, veggie booty (varied from day to day)
nap
Milk upon waking - 8 oz
snack - yogurt
dinner - grilled cheese, noodles, veggies
8 oz milk before bed.

We were off all purees by a year if not sooner.

are you wondering if she is getting enough? or how she is wanting her meals?

She could be approaching a growth spurt..?  Also, do you feed her the same thing everyday or offer a variety?  Sometimes w/dd I'll offer her stuff too much and she no longer wants it. 

I don't know if I've helped...but thought I would offer a perspective of what we ate.

I try different things, but I can't help going back to the same ole same ole. Especially when sometimes that's all she'll eat. I guess I was wondering if she seems to be eating average for her age. Todays example is actually not a bad day. there are worse days. She did end up eating her usual noodles for supper. I tried giving her some of my cheeseburger "just a piece or two", some american cheese and whole wheat tortilla. She did pick on some of the tortilla. I even tried "not tonight" making veggie pancakes someone on the site taught me. No luck.

As far as teh puree's. she skipped this step ALL together and refushed to eat anything from 7 months to 9 1/2 months. Wouldn't touch any pureee stuff. Now I finally have her eating either a fruit level 3 baby food or a oatmeal with pears and cinnemon baby food in the morning. It's at least putting food into her. You know?
She just started doing this in the morning over the course of the last month or so.

A few things to try that might help her be more interested in eating would be utensils.  I know that once we introduced the fork, she loved it.  If you have an ikea near you their plastic kids forks are the best.  The actually hold food. You could also try a spoon with some things like oatmeal with brown sugar and cinn.  Make it a little clumpy and it will stick better.

another would be dipping.  My dd loves ranch.  You could try applesauce, ketchup with sweet potato fries. 

Does she want to eat your food?  Sometimes DD will want my oatmeal so I figure it gives me the opportunity to eat it so I'll just give her mine.  Now she wants her own bowl.

think textures.  This age, they have major texture issues.  We went for freeze dried fruit, frozen blueberries and peas, Veggie Booty (this is the best!)

We also starting calling meals "snacky's"  She gets excited now for those.

it's like cheetos, but healthy with spinach and kale.  It's great!  My dd ate it for months and it was a great healthy snack.  You can find it at health food stores or in your local grocery store if they have a health food section. 

I think it tastes horrible, but kids LOVE this.

Sounds good!  I will have to look for it. 

We are currently obsessed with Earth's Best Elmo & Big Bird Cheese Crackers.  She will literally pick out other snacks in her snack trap cup and only eat those, and ONLY if they are whole crackers, not bits & pieces!!!  Princess Isabella!
