Where do i start? tonight i gave T his bottle, put him in cot (would normally have sat on chair with my hand on his back) tried to not put hand on back and he kept fussing so I said 'am going to get ur cat (his teddy- but not lovie, has never slept with it)' walked out and heard him call me with no crying 3 times after which ...silence. I sat out side his room for 30mins waiting for him to call and ........he didnt :o I just went in and he's asleep!!!?!??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What happened???? how on earth is this possible? Was it just a fluke? How do I repeat it tomorrow? I can't believe it! He wasnt particularly tired as had woken 3.30 from his nap and I had him in bed at 7.30

I was just posting on your other thread about when we sleep trained Harvey, I sat by the cot for 3 days then the 4th night just walked out, thought Id give it a go and see what happened and he went to sleep with no fuss!!! After I typed it I deleted it as I thought it wasn't relevent and probably wouldn't work for others, I was just lucky but sounds like it worked for you!!!

So tomorrow you say the same thing!!! Or say Mummy's just going to sweep the floor/clean the windows/empty the bath... (something REALLY boring!!!) !!! Give it a go, I cannot wait to see how it goes, I am sooooo pleased to hear this!! Well done you and well done T!!!  :-* :-* :-*

sometimes trying to help them fall asleep makes things worse. so maybe that's the way to go!

Oh clare thanx !! i still think it was a one off and tomorrow he's going to think 'hang about, she's didnt come back with the cat yesterday'!! how did it go for u the next day? did u have to wi/wo after that success?

Again, so happy for you!  I agree you should try keeping it similar to tonight and see how that goes.  If he does say hey, she doesn't come back, you could bring whatever you are going to get back and then go do something else, "mommy has to go, fold laundry or go to the bathroom"...  it is a sort of WI/WO...

So happy for you though!   ;)  Can't wait to hear more...

Yes we did, we've never looked back! And the rare times hes cried, we just go in, settle him and go again!!! Tonight is a different story.... new 'big boys' bed!! Hes been up there an hour now and Ive been up and down the stairs 40 times.....here I go again!! Be back soon xxxxx

It does work, but maybe not every night, especially if they are not quite ready to settle.
I used to do it with Clarissa but yoou have to be careful what you say and follow through (eg. if you say you're going to get a drink, they might want one too :-\ )
