Ideas for wind down-changing to big bed!
« on: July 18, 2007, 07:19:21 am »
Hi,

I need some ideas for wind down time!

Our ds is almost 28 months old and we are going to be converting his cot bed into a bed soon.

At the moment, he'll have his dinner at 5.30-6.00pm, have a bath 6.15-6.30, in pyjamas and downstairs for milk and play/watch tv.  At 7.30 he'll happily come up to bed with his favourite lovie toy, have his dummy and lie in bed.  He always says bye bye, if you stay in the room with him he just says bye bye louder and louder!

I'm thinking that maybe when we change him to a bed, he might be better at me staying in his room to read a story maybe?

Has anybody got any ideas?  Maybe I need to change his routine - bath later and then to bed with a story?

Please help!!!

Why do you feel you need yo change his routine?

I think the best thing to do is to carry on as normal.  When we converted dd cot into a bed, we were really panicked about her getting out of bed etc but we just stuck to her routine & carried on as normal & although she now knows she can get out of bed, it took her a few weeks to figure it out.

dd continued as normal.  It was like we didn't take the bars off the cot at all.
