Morning girls!  Hope last night was good, relatively speaking  ;).  Sorry for haven't checking in lately but based on my past experiences wverytime I mention something good is happening, I jinxed myself.

Anyway, for the last two days I have managed to get V on two 1.5-2 hrs naps but our nights still have the crib parties.  I am seriously thinking that I will have to put up with it till he outgrows them.  Yeah right! :D  Our last A time is very similiar to you Fiona.  His A times are 2.5, 3, and 3.5-4 before bed.  The way I managed to stretched that last A to 3.5 was to bf V at 5 (his usual catnap time) in his room then we kinda chill out in the dimmed room for 10-15 min.  The last two nights he did let out a cry at around 10/11 pm but he quickly fell back to sleep.  He is still feeding at around 4 am.  So I think that I will continue with this for a few more days so that his brain will start catching on to the new routine.

Gotta go, V is calling!

Mimi can you post your feeding schedule? I am having real problems with mine. Today was a weird day, he woke at 7.30, bed 9.30 rubbing eyes slept at 9.45 but only for 30 mins so we then had an awake time time of 3 hours and a nap of 2 hours 15 mins, he woke once cried a few mins then went back to sleep so up at 3.45 pm, bottle at 4 then by 6.20 he was hungry again, bed 7.45 pm. I was thinking of giving solids at around 5.15ish then bottle around 7 but cos he is so used to bottle then solids at 6.30 I am afraid if I change it he will start looking for food earlier in the am.
Fingers crossed for tonight, so tired of crib parties and early wake up  :)

Here's what I've been doing the last two days.

7        wake bf (not long here b/c of 4 am feeding)
8        solids
9:30    bf & nap 1 (1.5 -2 hrs) pat and hum to extend if needed
11:30  wakes very short feed like 1-2 min
12:30  solids
2:30    bf & nap 2 (1.5-2 hrs) pat and hum to extend if needed
4/4:30 wakes very short feed again - he doesn't seem interested at this time
5        bf in dark room
6        solids
7        bf and bed

I remembered with dd that when she started to increased her A, I had to feed her b/f the naps so she wouldn't wake up early.  It's not the EAS routine but I'm willing compromise if I can get that 1.5-2 hrs naps.   ;)

Darn it!  Looks like he's going to be taking a long nap this morning and I have to wake him in 5 min b/c we're meeting up with friends.

Well it sounds like everyone's been having a little success!

I'm still a little confused with ds. He's never been too early of a riser but now it seems as if he's fallen into a 6:30 bedtime and 6:30am wake time. Which I guess is fine. He doesn't make a peep all night. I just wish it could at least be a 7-7! I don't know why...but 6:30 seems SO much earlier than 7?!

He was asleep this morning after A time of 2hr45m. He woke at a half hour again though. But, he wasn't crying. Just chatting to himself for 25 minutes and then fell back asleep. I guess tomorrow maybe I'll try to increase this A time even more. What boggles me is that he's waking at the 30 min. mark which I thought meant OT? But, I guess he's not OT if he's waking up chatting! Unfortunately, he goes for his 2nd dose of the flu shot today at 3. :( Now I'll have to wake him by 2:30 so it will be an early bedtime tonight!

Oh..still having issues w/him taking his 2nd bottle of the day. I know it's too early to drop one so I guess I'll just keep offering!

Hope everyone's having a great day! It's FRIDAY!

Mimi - that does suck to just realize they are taking a long one and have to wake them!

Amy - I am having trouble with B's bottle taking too.  Too eager to look around at Paige, etc.  So annoying.  I've been trying to comb the other boards to see when they usually drop a bottle and I realized that most are a few months older.  It seemed to be anywhere between 8mos-1yr.  Yikes.  I feel like she'd do better with 3-8oz bottles than 4-6 ozers as I feel like she'd be hungrier.  I was searching to see if anyone does 5hrs between feeds, but didn't see any routine that fit it.  Not sure what to do.  I hate feeling like I force it, but I know she's hungry as she reaches for it and yells if I give her a break and she doesn't want one at that moment, but 10 seconds later she's pushing it away to sit up and look around.  Maybe the answer is that in time she'll take it from a sippy?

Yay on the 12hr nights, but I hear ya that 6:30 stinks.  I wish B would go 7-7 but she prefers 11-11.5hrs at night so we are always up early.  It's too bad as P sleeps in.

Not sure on the nap thing.  I think I mentioned that B has done that several times: wake at 30min mark but just coo and whatever for a while and then back to sleep.  Weird.  I always was told OT for 30 min as well, but if they wake up happy that can't be it.  Maybe ask on the naps board?  I did post about it before and they told me just to leave her be and it would work itself out.  As long as she's not crying they said don't worry about it.  Still wish I could figure it out though.

Well, I'm really getting sick of the 5am chat.  It at least used to be like 5:45, but today we had:

5am crib party
5:50ish       Awake for the day (stayed in crib until 6:40)
7:00          Bottle (how can she be so interested in seeing everything when she hasn't eaten in 8.5hrs?)
8:00          Solids
8:30-10:00 Nap - YAY
11             Eat (really fights me on this one as P is running around)
12             Solids
1               Nap (we'll see...)

Yesterday we had a 34min a.m. nap and then 2hr17min pm one!  And a catnap of 30 min.  So how could she be OT as that's why they say they wake between 4-6 - or is that just if they are crabby then that they are OT?  Mine is perfectly happy and playing and doesn't need me, but I don't get back to sleep.

Ugh...I know what you guys mean about having to wake your lo's out of a sound nap! I had to wake ds today to go to the dr. to get his 2nd dose of the flu shot. As we're in the waiting room the nurse comes to tell us that she's sorry but the lady who made the appt. for us didn't know that it needed to be at least 30 days since the last dose...and it had only been 28! Now we have to go back next week.

Robyn-Yes, sounds like we're in the same boat with the bottles! I've cut back on solids a bit but it hasn't seemed to make a difference. His first bottle's ok, usually takes about 5oz. But, like your 11:00 bottle, this is the one Mason has really been refusing too. Granted I don't have a toddler running around to distract him either! When I offer it, he sticks his hands in front of his face and pushes it away. I try it again in about a half hour and he still never wants it but I usually manage to get a max. of 2oz. out of him. I know they say teething can affect eating, but I find it strange how for Mason it's usually the 11:00 one that he really won't take. I've thought about dropping one and adding the oz. to the other bottles but I was looking around too and it seems too early. How does B do with the sippy? I've been giving it to Mason for awhile now but I think he's only drank from it a couple times. He's way more interested in chewing on it! I think I need to buy a couple different ones to try them out. We just have the Gerber one now.

So does B just chat to herself from 5:50-6:40? Isn't it funny to listen to them! Mason's really been a chatterbox lately all day. Well...he's more like a high pitch scream chatter!

I guess they do say that it's extremely common for lo's to have the early morning chatter so I think it will eventually stop. But I know what you mean about just having to lay there listening to it!

Enjoy the weekend ladies!

Amy, try this sippy.  DD had one similar and ds has this one.  He really likes it.  At first he would bite on it and water would come out.  Now he can suck on it.  Sorry to hera about the appt.  Don't you hate it when they messes things up?

Nuby cup

Hope everyone have agood and quiet night.

Mimi - that's the cup we have!  B loves it - plus when they bite on it water does come out so they then get the hang of it.  She would rather play with it than drink, but I am keeping at it.  She tries to copy Paige - it's so cute!

Hi Amy!  Yes, B chats away for the first 20min or so, then there's the yell (not cry, just yell) and pause...we do that for oh say 10 min, and then there's the "are you coming or not yell" for another 10 min and then I go in and put on her music and she listens to that for 10 min and then we get up.  I am trying to make it so she loves her crib...which she so does - thankfully!  I did the same with Paige and as she got older she would just play and talk to herself until someone came and got her.  If she woke way early from a nap I could leave her in there for an hour and she'd just be rest/playing.  And now at 2, she'll stay laying down, but talk and play completely content.  LOVE IT!  Hoping I get that lucky with B too.  It's so funny to listen to B - she gets squealing and almost laughing at herself all the while playing with her silkie.  When I look at the video monitor she looks so still when she first wakes as I think she's just waking up slowly - like her mommy and big sis!
