My DD isn't a toddler yet but I saw a great book for when she is called "Pants" and there is a second book called "More Pants" now because it is so popular, you guessed it it's about different kinds of pants (as in undies not trousers) and is really funny  ;D

DS won't complain whatever we decide to read as he LOVES story times but here are some of his favs:

1. Speedy little race cars - Dawn Bentley
2. Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter Yarrow & Lenny Lipton (this comes with a CD and ds LOVES loves loves this book :) )
3. Sesame street book club books (from the 80's :P )
4. Go Train Go (or any Thomas the tank engine book)
5. Green eggs and ham - Dr. Seuss
6. Brown bear, Brown bear, what do you see? - Bill Martin Jr.
7. The very hungry Caterpillar - Eric Carle
8. Barn Yard Dance - Sanda Boynton
9. Tonka Truck stories
10. Mimi's Toes (bathtime book) - Julie Aigner-Clark (Baby Einstein)

Next time we go to the book store or library, I am going to take a few suggestions from what books your toddlers love and have some great new stories to read ds!  :D

For my baby shower instead of a wishing well, people were asked to bring a children's book. So James has a lot of these books already, but shows no interest.

We had to put most of the books up on a high shelf when he started getting to the age of ripping things. And I just left his board books on the shelf within his reach. He only wants to throw them on the floor or stack them up.  I try to read, but after reading a few pages he takes it away & tosses it on the floor.

How do you get your toddlers interested?  Maybe I should post this as a different topic?

Jenny - honestly I think I would just continue to read the stories and when he isn't interested anymore, let him push the book away, look at the pages, get a new book or whatever! you could also try picking up where you left off in the story next time you sit down to read. I would try to stick to stories that don't have to many words on each page so the pages are turning quicker which means it may keep his concentration longer. Or instead of reading the story just talk about what he sees, colours, shapes, animals, vehicles, sun, clouds or whatever is on the page. Personally as long as he isn't destroying the books I would let him stack or play away, if he doesn't want to read, he may get more interested as he gets older :) hope that helps  :-\ :)

For a long time my youngest wasn't all that interested in reading (19-23mo I'm guessing)... unless he was so tired he wanted the stories to fall asleep (I let him fall asleep on my lap for naps OK not BW BUT what *I* wanted to do  ;)). So when we read books we looked for things & we talked about things & I'd ask him where the cat or dog or yellow things  were. Now at 28mo he will sit & listen to really long stories & have me read for 30+ mins at a time
