umm I did it, put him down at 1:15 and he is shakieng his crib rails and fussing...

this is so frustrating..if he doesn't sleep well now then I am in for another nap I think and/or an early bedtime..

I am working again this evening and hopeing for Cohen not to be OT and awake/crying while I am at work.

my reply was lost...

bad, slept 1:40-2:20pm, tried to extend it til 3pm--and no luck...

cant decide whats worse? a catnap or a 6pm bedtime...

I dont think he will nap much before 5 or 5:30

think Ill do supper at 4:30 and then try for a catnap, if he is not alseep yet by 5:30...then maybe Ill move on to feeding him and bed for 6.. :-\

well I definately think he needs more sleep...I cant see how 10.5-11 at night and 1.5 during the day is enough....think we are just in a OT cycle but I dont know how to fix that...dont think he is a short napper...he has been napping well when I get the timeing right.

I mean our EW our most likely OT from bad afternoon naps...the EW only started this last week when we started with the afternoon nap problems, prior to this he was sleeping closer to 7....
I was hopeing to get him to have a good pm nap to get over this but obviously it didn't work..

anyway, Im in a huge mess, and I dont think Ill be wakeing him in the am again.

how would you handle today?

well honeslty he hasn't been short napping..its just the fighting the nap in the afternoon the last few weeks thats been the problem, and trying to find the right 2nd A time.

he slept in my arms for maybe 10mins , if that, at 5:30..

hope he is still able to be asleep tonight by 7, since thats when I go to work.

he wasn't happy wakeing from the 40min pm nap, he was crying and yawning away but just wouldn't resettle....just cried and cried.

ok, so with yesterdays 40min am and 40min pm nap disaster, I was leary to try it again...

so today, he slept til 6:15am, and napped 9:40-10:40, woke on his own after 1hr--I decided to not watch the clock at all and saw an eye rub and a ear pull at 2pm...so he was in bed 5min later..

well its 3pm and he is still not asleep, and now he is starting to cry..and now I start to worry that he is getting hungry because he last BF at 11am..

go in to check on him and hes totally unzipped his grobag and his legs are through the crib rails and then I find a wet sock that he must have sucked to hell on the ground--so maybe all these things were keeping him awake..finally asleep at 3:20pm.

what to do, what to do....

why does he show tired signs but just not go to sleep?

ok so if I keep a 1hr am nap, should I just keep adding on awake time mid day? should I try just laying him down after 3.75hrs, wonder if he'll still refuse to go to sleep?

or do I try the 40min am nap and maybe try 3hrs awake time after it.

Im going to wake him at 4:15, if he has not awoken on his own by then.

no problem!

today--woke:6ish
nap 9:30-10:30 I woke him
nap-down at 2:10--asleep at 2:30==slept til I woke him after 1hr20 3:50pm  ;D
asleep 7:20pm

so going to see what the night and morning brings in term of wake-up---is the day getting too long? I think the ideal pm nap would be 2-3:30

decent night and decent naps yesterday (1hr and 1hr20)

not so good today, dont know what has happened..

woke 6:30
nap in bed for 9:35, fussed more then usual and fell asleep about 9:45, and woke 10:20, Im assuming about a 38minute nap, but didn't wake happy..
was grumpy, but then it improved after he ate lunch--so I thought maybe hunger..

did windown at 1:35, and in to bed at 1:45, big yawn, he didn't cry when I left- just sort of talked a bit and then all was quiet but then the crying started at 2...and now the crying has continued and now hes OT.

Ive been in there, re sang song and left and put him down, he cried hard,  its now 2:25 and he is still not asleep..now he seems to be happily talking, (2nd wind?)

I have no idea if I just missed the sleep window or what..maybe when he wakes crying from a 35min nap (even though the A time before it wasn't that long)--he should of had less A time or what..

not sure what to do with him now. hopeing he goes to sleep.

it does seem to be an off day for everybody!

uugh, he would not settle and was obviously OT, did AP--BF him to sleep at 2:45

dont think he'll sleep long and obviously he'll need an early bedtime. new day tommorow

ok, so bad nw last night:
nap yesterday 2:45-4:05--I woke him
asleep 7pm
awake 9:15-11:15
up at 6:30---now 7:30

today:
up 7:30-
nap 10:20--cried out at 11, but kept on sleeping...

so he is OT today, and I am tempted to just let him sleep this morning...hope I wont be regretting it later...what do you think?

weird, I didn't get that last response..
sorry this is a bit long..
definately need to tweak the routine again.

so since the time change, Ive attempted to keep things the 1hr ahead.
with a 1hr am nap and then longer pm nap..but the pm nap is like 4hrs after wakeing from the am nap..

so it has looked like this: (yesterday)
wake 7:30
nap 10:30-11:30-woke him after 1hr
nap 3:20-4:45-woke on his own,
bed 8, asleep 8:15

not bad, but woke at 12:30 and at 6am--I ended up feeding both times, the first because I thought he was hungry after Mike tried to resettle him for 30min and then at 6am because I didn't want Noah up yet and I didn't want to start the day then.
so he was awake 6-6:30 or so

and then slept 6:30-7:45am when I woke him
grumpy all morning--I guess from the broken early morning sleep.
so nap 10:20-11:20-I woke him
then we went out for Noah to get his hair cut and for lunch, home at 2ish, so I gave him a bit of extra time to crawl to burn off steam, and put him down at 3:15, not asleep til 3:45--so I woke him a 4:55pm-1hr10min nap.
bed 8, I thought he was asleep but then talking at 8:30 (did he wake?) and then crying, went in and fed him again--because he didn't eat super great at 7:30.
so its 8:55 and I am hopeing he is asleep now.

so I feel like a 11hr night is not long enough, and he is thus wakeing not that well rested and wants his am nap like 3hrs after wakeing, and then he has a long stretch middle of the day, even on a 1h am nap
I think ideally he would be asleep by 8pm--and wakeing 7:30ish, so pm nap should be over by 4:30? or earlier?

so I am thinking of cutting his am nap to 50min, which would hopefully cut his next awake time to 3.5hrs--rather then the usual 4

wake 7:30
nap 10:30-11:20
nap 2:45/3-4:30?
bed/asleep 8?
