Hi all, I'm back...

So now I've managed to get her sleeping in her cot all night. I put her down awake and sit by her till she sleeps. At this point I can just talk to her and dont need to keep a hand on her back, but yesterday I tried walking out before she was 100% asleep and she screamed!

When she wakes at night I go in, offer her water, and say "night night" and if necessary lay her down. Sometimes she needs me to stay in a while but more ans more often I'm able to just walk out again. The thing is she is still waking several times a night. How am I going to get her to actually stop waking? Considering that she used to be an independent sleeper I had exppected to see more improvement by now. I don't mean to seem impatient but I'm SO fed up of going in and out all night  ???

Any tips?

Hiya Hun,

First of all well done on what you've done so far, it's a huge improvement. Some info from you please.

How long have you been at the stage of GW you're at when you put her down at BT  ???

Please post her routine to see if it maybe needs a tweak and is relevant.

It is so frustrating so you don't sound impatient to me! Quite the opposite in fact, remember we have BTDT and it's enough to make you go  :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

 ;) Vicki.x.

Thanks Vicki. I started out keeping a hand on her back until she slept so I suppose its been a few days of me just sitting talking to her, maybe 4 or 5. She is mostly on 1 nap now unless I know she's going to have a later BT. So something like this:

Wake up - 7
Nap - 11/11.30-12.30/1.30 (length varies)
BT - 6/7

On a 2 nap day she'll have a short am one usually and longer pm.

Have you noticed any difference in how she settled at BT when she has had 2 naps  ???

Generally she'll take longer to settle when she takes 2 naps, unless its a really late night, say if we need ro go out. In these situations she'll generally sleep in the car on the way home... If she has one nap she's pretty exhausted by BT

That's what I was wondering Honey, maybe it's time to go cold turkey 1 nap so she's always ready for BT  :-\

Yes I think so too. I did that the last couple of days. On tues she woke up at 7, nap from 11.15-12.30 and 6.30 BT. She had a long NW from 10-11.30 but then slept till morning. Yesterday she woke up at 7.30, nap from 11.15-12.30 and 8pm BT (late I know!) She then woke up at 10, 11, 12.30, 2.15, 3 and up at 6! I gave her meds at 3 so I think she must have been uncomfortable as she then slept till 6. Maybe 4th molar coming out. Or does this pattern sound like OT?

def could be teeth but it also really sounds like OT to me tbh. I would push the nap later in the day if you can so if she is up at 7/7.30am (which is great!) then try around 12pm. She is doing very long A times in the pm and form my experience that can lead to OT pretty quickly, especially when they first transition. A nap less than 2 hours I would say she needs an EBT tbh.

Yes i agree. Yesterday was an exception and was way too late! Today she woke up at 6, went down for nap at 11 and so far is still asleep at 12.50. So assuming she wakes at 1, she will have had a 2hr nap, and I'll try for a 6.30/7 BT? She usually seems to cope with 6hrs A after a decent nap. Does this sound right?

She napped till 1.30 in the end and I put her to bed at 7. She did resist for a bit, kept standing up smiling, but I ignored her and she slept in about 15 mins. FX for tonight! I gave nurofen before bed as she's been cranky today and I will repeat later I'd necessary. I do feel I'm a bit stuck with the sleep training, is there anything I should be doing to progress?   ???

I think things are going so great! 2.5 hour nap...wow! I think she was probably a bit UT at BT Hun, I would go for 6 hours after a 2.5 nap.

You're not really in sleep training any more Sweetie LOL, if today's anything to go by she's there now  :D

Lol, I suppose so from the independent sleep aspect (though I cant leave the room while she's awake yet). But she is still getting loads of NW!

Last night was pretty awful. She woke up at 9.30 and just wouldn't resettle. She was still under effect of nurofen but seemed uncomfortable. DH got impatient as we were finally getting some time together so we just got her out of her room next to us and she played there quite happily for a while  ::)  When we went to bed I put her in the travel cot in our room, lay in bed and talked to her. She SCREAMED! An angry screeching cry, more like a tantrum. I had repeated meds before bed but she took a while to settle. Pain? Acting up? Who knows  ???

She is improving over all but still wakes up a lot at night and still screams the moment i leave the room. And she used to be an independent sleeper!  ???
